I took some runs with the Rome Snowboards crew during the on snow demo at Winter Park Colorado in January and rode their Rome Agent Snowboard and bindings. The board was epic and it was good to see Josh Reid and the rest of the Rome crew actually out riding their gear and listening closely to the feedback about their products. Its companies like Rome that are killing it for the love of it and thats why they constantly make great products.
Location: Winter Park, Colorado
Snow Conditions: Hardpacked and Icy Conditions
Setup: Rome Agent Snowboard, Rome Bindings
Size: 158cm.
First Impression: The board is stiff and fast. Would be epic for the rider looking to commit to going a little bit faster at everything he hits.
Weight: Light-Midweight.
Flex: The board is a little stiffer than the other boards I rode at the demo. The board has a medium flex rating torsionally but will
Turning: The regular camber allowed for a good energy release and catch between turns. The edge bevel also allowed for smooth transition but grabbed the board when the edge initiated.
Pop: Like other regular camber boards this one had a good amount of pop on the hard pack ollies and in the park. The board is made with Carbon reverse-V stringer technology to allow you to have more ollie power.
Switch: I set this board up with a directional stance but it still felt good riding switch, although the board is not a twin.
Overall Impression: The 2011 Rome Agent Snowboard is a solid piece of machinery. Rome always does it proper and uses their design house input 100 day output techniques in place to create great snowboards. You can find riders like BJ Leines riding this board in all conditions, rails, jumps, pow, and park. Its a true all terrain snowboard. This board is a strong and solid board that will hold up to serious damage. The board is specifically made with impact plates under the bindings and stronger edges.
ADDITIONAL SET UP NOTES: The Rome Bindings are highly adjustable and very comfortable for your foot preference.
