Thanks to Chris Marshall for the photos and to Bob Gnarly for the report on the report from the Downtown Throwdown this last weekend in Seattle The 3rd annual Downtown Throwdown took place over the weekend and Seattle delivered again with perfect fall weather. Krush Kulesza and his Snowboy Productions crew once again brought tons of snow, tons of talent and tons of fun to the NW shred-starved crowd of well over 2000 on the steps of Qwest Field and the home to the Seattle Seahawks. Sightings of Peter Line, Jamie Lynn, Mike Ranquet and Mark Landvik proved that Washington truly backs all forms of shred. Jed Anderson, Jonas Micholot and Ben Bilocq led a stacked field of up and coming rail slayers that went 20 deep. Every trick you could think of was thrown and thrown well. The judging crew of Jon Kooley, Darrell Mathes, Sean Genovese and Austin Smith definitely had the hardest job of the night as the riding was non-stop and hammers were dropping everywhere. In my mind Jesse Burtner is the best commentator in the industry and he kept the crowd in the know all night long. In the end Jed headed back to Calgary with $3000 in the form of a giant IOU, Jonas with $2000 for second, Bilocq with a grand for 3rd, Zac Marben scored $750 for 4th and for having one sweet mustache, Sam Hulburt took $500 for 5th and Jake Olson-Elm claimed $500 for best trick with a switch hardway 270 through the kink. This event has really blown up in the short three years it's been going and if this year was any indication of what is coming…watch out. Thanks to Boarderline Snowboard Shop, Red Bull, Ride Washington, Lib-Tech, Nitro, Skullcandy, Think Thank, The Ski Fever Expo and to all the crazy fans who made it out for a great night.
