Mammoth Grand Prix Part 2

After a long week in Mammoth of nonstop shredding action it's a wrap. Both pipe events are done and there are some new people that are now qualified for Vancouver. The Paul Mitchell Pregression Session went down with some gnarly runs thrown down by a stacked field of riders. So here is how the rest of the weekend went down. With the second halfpipe event going down the weather was not as perfect as the one earlier but that did not stop anybody from skipping a beat. Shaun came through again for his second win of the Grand Prix series so he's on the US team for the Olmpics along with Kelly Clark who locked the first spot for the women. Luke Mitrani made finals this time and landed himself in the top five. Along side other FRENDS Scotty Lago, and Danny Davis. Gretchen landed herself on the top of the podium with Elena and Hannah in second and third. Another solid pipe contest, and the amount of support there for our FREND Kevin Pearce was amazing.

For the slopestyle contest on the last day everyone was riding insane. Some of the riders had some trouble sticking every landing or had some minor set backs on the rails.This year though if you want to make it on that podium your entire run has to be real clean. Jamie put down a solid run for the women earning the top spot. While the dudes the young guys Brett Esser and Tyler Flannigan were nipping at Chas' heels but couldn't beat him as he spun like a top down the run with sick rail moves too. Some of the other guys that killed it that didn't make top three were Shayne Pospisil, Lonnie Kauk stomping switch frontside 12's, Ian Thorley's switch double backside rodeos and lots more intense action.

- Ellery Hollingsworth starts her run out with a frontside air, then keeps it clean and smooth the rest of the way down

- Elena Hight going huge first hit

- Jack has made it to every Grand Prix final so far. I guess the judges like it when your airs look like that

- Matt Ladley Haakon flip with a tweaked ankle. Didn't look lke it was bothering him too much

- Another big suprise this year is how hard Zack Black is shredding. Backside 900

- JJ Thomas has been looking like he might be getting another go at the olympics. His runs were so solid that landed him on the podium again this year with no doublecork

- Having doubles in the bag definitely helps. Louie's got em back to back on lock
