Here is the start list for the Paul Mitchell Expression session
What the hell? The Paul Mitchell Expression session was basically a pipe jam with 2 obstacles set up on the deck. You will see those obstacles later. It was really a good time and all the riders seemed to enjoy it. Awards were given out for best overall and best trick. The format was simple 60 minute jam with awards given for overall performance and best trick. The Best trick meant on an obstacle, I told Keir Dillon it looked kind of like the West Coast Invitational at Mammoth only 60 degrees cooler he said yea but this pipe is perfect. The vibe was like an anti contest, just the best pipe riders hiking the pipe. In fact they kept shredding after the contest was over
Up and comer Jeremy Thompson was charging hard
You might remember Trevor Jacobs he won the 15 and under PBRJ rail jam last weekend in Mammoth. Well, he almost made the pipe finals in the Grand Prix and ruled the pipe obstacles with tricks like frontside 50/50 to alley oop revert out. In fact I would say Trevor was in the top 5 for best trick.
Harrison Gray from Canada gets his crail on
Andreas Wiig surveys the Plexiglas wall ride.
Andreas follows up his survey with a Layback re-vert
Crispin Lipscomb to tail. Crispin later went on to do a 540 to tail
Louie, Louie Vito with a tail tap on obstacle #2, the round bar
Tim Humphries won best trick for his Miller Flip on the Plexiglas wall ride
My personal favorite trick of the night Andrecht on the bar by Thomas Harstad
Danny Davis tailslides
Jeremy Thompson again Indy air
Chad Otterstrom back lips the plexi. Chad was on fucking fire all night but kind of kept slamming all hard, Andy Finch style, and was later seen in the VIP area drinking beer
Luke Mitrani
Mason Aguirre was also ripping. Mason opted out of the pipe competition earlier in the day saying he had not ridden enough recently but did ride in the expression session and busted tricks like this stale
Thomas Harstad again with a nose bonk to reverse front 180 in
Mason with a nose bonk
Michael Goldschmidt goes front 5 to tail. He missed the tail bonk but got second in the overall jam
The highlight of the night was when Luke Mitrani and Danny Davis did a doubles run and they both did the same tricks all the way down the pipe. Dual crails
The temperature may have been below zero but the action was hot dual front 5s. After the buzzer was over, the riders kept riding and the drinkers kept drinking...good night!
