Every year for the past, what 15 years I cruise up for the last weekend at Mammoth. Surely I have missed a few, but not many. Winter went by soooo fast.
Mammoth did not have the best year but here we are on Memorial Day and it looks like this. The snow was super fun
Here, friends is the "Park" this is it. There are two more rails not in the picture, no jumps. The crazy thing is Snowboarder Mag just wrapped up their Superpark on Thursday. Pat Bridges said they had some sick jump set up on chair 5. Mammoth flattened them just before the weekend?
Climax was fun

The mountain closes at 2 pm so that leave 6 hours of light. I hopped on the motorbike and rode up to Tioga Pass to look for some bc. Here is Ellery bowl from the motorcycle. Ellery Bowl was not worth a stop. Mt Dana - Nothing. Mt Gaylor had some sick lines but believe it or not it was tracked out. The best riding looked to be on false White Mountain which is a few mile walk. Oh and San Juaquin Mountain looked sicked and Bloody Couloir too, both long walks
I opted to hike up a Yosemite landmark - Cathedral Peak. John Muir first climbed it in 1869 and Ansel Adams took a lot of photos of it. Always wanted to see it up close. There is no desiginated trail there so it was about 3 miles of cross country, then some STEEP climbing. Here is a marmot enjoying the view from its deck

Sick lines up in Cathedral Creek drainage - 3 miles from the road with no real trail
As far as you can go without ropes Looking towards Cathedral Lakes and the valley

Sick Day!
