To snowboard before Halloween in So Cal is pretty remarkable, especially considering a few days ago we were going through a heat wave. A quick drop in temperatures on Tuesday allowed Mountain High to blast out a base adequate enough for shredding and have their second earliest opening ever. It was definitely a good time and everyone was stoked to be back on the snow, mostly cruising and finding their snow legs. Today, Thursday, was open to season pass holders only, starting Friday, the resort is open to everyone from 9am (or maybe 8:30) until 10pm. Despite the fact that the resort was open to season pass holders and VIPs’ only and it was a Thursday, it was still pretty busy. Lot’s of people bought season passes recently and picked em up today before riding. Season passes are on sale for $299 until Halloween if you wanna hit up that deal. When you cruise up in the next few days because you love snowboarding you will find that about 10 obstacles are setup including; several fun boxes, a little roller box, a 20 foot rail, 2 podium boxes, and little lexan jump. There is adequate coverage on the three trails that combined ,make one top to bottom run open for shredding. Maybe more stuff will be open tomorrow. Lift ticket prices are reduced, costs being $25 for kids, $30 for night (5-10pm), $35 for 4 hours and $40 for 8 hours. Hey, Halloween on the snow, at night, that would be cooler than free candy.

The snowmaking crew had the snowmakers on for 39 hours straight prior to the 9 am opening on Thursday October . The cat here is finalizing some grooming just before the lifts allow people on

Sweet, looks like Aspen corduroy for a few minutes until everyone blasts down the run

The snow report said there was an 8-12 inch base which sounds thin but it was a solid base, there were very few bare spots or rocks sticking through

The resort is planning to stay open until Sunday, after that be sure to check their website for updates www.mthigh.com   and if you go, bring goggles in case they are running snowmaking
