Then of course there is always the party after the event. Both of the Mack Dawg movies ("Were down with Pople", "Double Decade") played and the Bear movie put together by Justin Meyer was on the big screen getting people psyched to bro down and put down a substantial amount of cocktails for the night. All in all Hot Dawgs and Handrails this year was an awesome time. Thanks to Bear Mountain and all the park staff working their asses off to make a fun start to the 2008/2009 season keep checking in at snowrev for more upcoming events.
Finally the 2008 2009 season is here. Well, maybe I jumped the gun on that, but there was snow in Big Bear this weekend. Hot Dogs and Handrails for the fifth year in a row has been the first big contest of the year, inviting some of the most hungry riders to get a chance to get back on some snow and ride a sick set-up that Bear mountain always delivers for them to slay. This year instead of having the same old rail contest with a couple of rails and maybe a wallride Bear stepped it up with a gap jump for the riders to haul ass into and chuck some serious carcass. Then they threw in bomb drop feature to make things more interesting so you could be really moving when everyone would get into the second zone. Jed Andreson took the first place spot destroying everything in his path, not that it's a surprise after seeing his part in the new Transworld movie "These Days." Somehow Bode Merrill didn't make top 3 after slaying all the rails, pulling tons of moves on the jumps, as well as finding new trannies to dabble with. Scott Stevens and Austin Grainger showed up to ride impressive as always, Scott was sending some mean one footers on the jump. Kyle Lopiccollo absolutely killed it on every spot on the course being creative and just having fun. Harrison Gordon, Ben Rice, Chris Bradshaw, Ben Bogart, Jonas Michelot, Johnny Lazzerachi, Desiree Meloncon, Scott Vine, and Keegan Valaika were some of the other standouts that handled the wutang booter and every other feature well. I am forgetting plenty more names, but whatever.
