The forth-annual Vans cup held at North star at Tahoe started out Friday evening with a good lineup of the usual heavy hitters and some new guns ready to slay the unique set-up for the night event.  With all of the riders eager to break into the 200,000 purse for the weekend and a huge crowd pumping them up there were some really good moves and a bit of carnage that went down. The ladies went at it first with Cheryl Maas taking 3rd, Desiree rode really well grabbing 2nd and Molly Aguirre took the top spot for the women. As for the dudes with so many people ripping and throwing down it’s always hard to remember it all, but some of the people that stood out were Joey Sexton throwing down consistent moves the whole time with some textbook front side board slides through kinks, and a mean backside 360 to 5-0 backside 180 out on the down rail along with all the other ticks he did. Lucas Magoon is just always so damn good at these things so it’s no surprise he put down a ton of moves. Mike Cassanova with an arsenal of tricks on every feature was impressive. After killing it in Big Bear the past week Nick Dirks along with his bud Jarad Hadi were riding and killed it. Yan Dofin was getting wild. Then there were the east coast heads holding it down like Brandin Reyes and Kade Madson. Overall, it was Chaz after bomb dropping off the top of the scaffolding, gapping the kink, popping of flats to flat. Pretty much he just decided to get gnarly and take the loot and a new Les Paul guitar.  So far this weekend has started out really well and hopefully we will all be having this much fun and all the other events in the next couple of days will be as good as this one.
