January 9 2009, The second stop of The Snowboard Dew Tour is underway. Mt Snow is the official host resort of this event and what a year to do it, with their snow making and snowboard park improvements. The event course looks designed and developed to perfection. Like the type of course you dream about when dreaming about on Resort Park riding. Today the mens and womens snowboard halfpipe set off the day and there was plenty of action to be witnessed.
The women set off the session and set the tone for the men that would soon follow. The field was limited in size but not limited in quality. Local girls Hanah Teter and Kelly Clark shined on their home turf. Hanah laid down a great run and Kelly was boosting so large. Amongst the girls that were killing it were Ellery Hollingsworth and Kjersti Buass. Kjersti surprised me as I caught only the second half of her run and she was still going big at the bottom of the pipe.
The men threw down, went large and showed no mercy to one another as competitors. FRENDS Kevin Pearce, Mason Aguirre and Luke Mitrani all qualified for the finals so expect to see a good show on Sunday when they will be joined by Scotty Lago and Danny Davis who were pre qualified. Greg Bretz on this day was beyond metal. By that we mean he was going ballistic in his runs, with huge spins, consistent grabs and huge airs. In the end Dylan Bidez landed a run that consisted of back to back 9’s a frontside 7 to a cab 10, and received the highest score of the day for the men.
This is only the beginning to more action that will be taking place over the next few days so report back for the Slopestlye Finals taking place Saturday and Halfpipe Finals on Sunday Night.
