Somtimes, when it snows, there is a place near LA called Mt Baldy that is super steep and super fun. It has about a 2000' vertical drop that is as steep as about anywhere in the USA, seriously. Problem is, it can go for years with in-adequate snow to hit the good stuff. Well, this year, or at least for the past few eeks, it has had enough snow to get to the really good stuff so we had to head up yesterday, and it was sick. Heads up too, Mt Waterman will open on Friday for the first time all week, that will be THE spot
No real reason to head out of So Cal to snowboard this week, well unless you are going heli boarding or something. So much snow has fallen recently that it is super fun in So Cal. I-15 is not quite the same drive to the mountains as say Steamboat

Active headquarters on the way

Riding up the 50-60 year old chair 1 at Mt Baldy, home of the steepest terrain in So Cal
Some of the terrain off chair 4. There is not much or no park terrain at Baldy but a lot of FUN natural terrain makes up for it

Fresh tracks, steep runs and sun
This stuff is everywhere if you look. Mt Baldy has a lot of off piste stuff.
More terrain, not much for beginners though
People were getting into some sick billy goat terrain
Hippies!

Snow above the desert
Mt San Antonio is home to a lot of insane hike too terrain, just a few miles from the ski area
Plus a stop at the skatepark on the way home makes for a good day. Grind over the deathbox and all the way to the roman - Fontana
