MFM spoke to us about the new snowboard movie Hard to Earn. As you can imagine there is maybe more cement in the video than snow. Not really but man when you watch this flick you see a lot of creative stuff go down in the city. No 150 foot gaps, no laps in the heli, just good creative stuff on terrain that pretty much anyone can hit, well, no one can hit the cityscapes with a snowboard like MFM and friends but you know what I mean. This movie makes you want to ride because it is all stuff accessible to everyone. No throwing down huge money for a heli, just grab your friends, wherever you live and ride even if you can not crush it like Lucas Magoon and everyone else in the flick. Good movie and good soundtrack, be sure to check it
T
he Hard to Earn Premier took place at the Mountain High Season Pass sale at the Vans Skatepark in Orange, CA. Mountain High is offering season passes, for a limited time for $299. Mountain High is usually open from November to April so that's about 5 months of riding or $60 a month, less than the gym right? Anyway, lot's of people braved the 100 degree plus temps to check out the movie, skate, buy a pass, see their favorite riders; it was a good time MFM inc. and Finger on Da Trigger Productions bring you the snowboard video Hard to Earn starring: MFM, Lucas Magoon, Travis Kennedy, Louie Vito, Dylan Thompson, Derek Dennison, Chris Bradshaw, Johnnie Paxson, Jake Devine, Jeremy Grendahl, Jonah Owen, Cory Cronk and more
SR: Can you tell everyone about Hard to Earn MFM: Yea man, well like basically, I always been filming for Absinthe, always try to get a part with my homies at Finger on Da Trigger. This time we just decided like an MFM and friends movie because that's all I do is roll around, hang out and ride with the homies. We dint want it too serious and my Finger on Da Trigger are some of the best in the industry for filming. To make it more of a mellow, hang out movie you know, with our style we decided to start calling it MFM and friends and put a name to it - Hard to Earn. See how it works, know what I'm saying. It was fun, feels good to make our own movie. It's a way to give back to everyone that supports us and stuff
SR: Favorite Part? MFM: Definitely Johnnie Paxson, this dude is on fire. Super cool, modest, humble, nice, good positive guy. He's a cool ass friend. It's sick to watch him ride. Johnny's got super sick steez, everybody's got good parts itâ's a feel good movie
SR: Soundtrack is good too MFM: Yea, we love good music and hanging out
SR: Now that's it's all done, how do you feel about the project, work that goes into it and stuff? MFM: It's hard; I just realized how hard it really is to make a movie. It's so damn hard and tedious just getting the riders together, motivating, organizing, getting the sponsors…its insane man. Sometimes you get discouraged, stuff like that but once you see it when it comes out, it looks good, feels good and it makes it all worth it
SR: Where was it filmed? MFM: Everywhere, we just roll around, wherever the snow is good and whatever is going on. Came up to Mountain High a bunch, just go wherever we feel like, we got the tour bus just roll around, hit different resorts, different places and film whatever we wanna film everywhere we wanna go
SR: Yea, I like it, it has a lot of places like everyday people can go ride, it motivates you to get off your ass, like, sick I can ride that spot too, no helis MFM: Yea, exactly, it's a lot of city shit and we run into homies in different cities, film and hang out
Did we mention, free food from Wahoos, those of you not from California may not know how good fish tacos are, yet another reason to hate California, at least if you can't get em. Or you can throw the Van De Kamps in the stove, grab a tortilla, Pace Picanti Sauce and mayonase and make your own, but not quite the same
Movie closer Johnnie Paxson is one to watch. Johnnie is holding a copy of Snowboarder with a sick E-Stone full page, or maybe even 2 page spread of him in it, which Johnnie saw for the first time, not to mention seeing his part in the movie for the first time. When you are a snowboarder you have to be stoked to fly from Oregon to SoCal, see yourself in Snowboarder and closing a movie, big night for sure
