How long ago did you start filming and why did you start Actionhorse Films?
I started filming snowboarding 5 years ago and I started Actionhorse Films because me and Hampus and Jakob wanted to make our own snowboard video.

Favorite movie of all time/filmer? Why?
My favorite snowboard movie top 3 is probably, Afterbang, Afterlame and Patchwork Patterns. Those 3 movies meant a lot to me... Afterbang since it was so new, so fresh. Afterlame because it changed the snowboard movie format in a new way since the riders did not have their own parts. Patchwork Patterns since they changed the riding in a whole new way. Favourite filmer is probably Pierre Wikberg, since I put two of his movies in the top 3 list. He might not be the very very best filmer but he is best at movie making. He has a good eye for what looks good, and he can entertain. To be able to keep a viewer entertained trough out a whole movie is the hardest thing in movie making.  I also like the filming of Justin Hare, Jake Price and Jaakko Ittaho.

How many days do you spend on the snow? How many days riding?
Hmm, maybe 120 days? Probably rode 20 full days without a backpack. But I always try to sneak in a run here and there...

Getting the shot | Per Hampus Stalhanske
- Panasonic HVX200 + Utah Backcountry

Main difference between Euro filmers and Americanos?
There is not really any difference, it's just the surroundings that are different. American filmers need trucks and sleds. Euro´s don't need that since they can access all the back country from the lifts.

You live in utah in winter time right? Why choose this location?
I hang out in Utah because i think it is really good there. Really good resorts and really good back country close by. A lot of sun and often deep snow. And my girlfriend lives there...

What is your favorite camera to use?
I like the Panasonic HVX-200, it´s really easy to use and the quality is nice. It is almost an industry standard when it comes to snowboard movie making. Now, any kid with 5 grand and some skills in filming can make a snowboard movie that will look like a Mack Dawg movie. I think that´s a great thing since it helps the competition. I also really like the super 8 format (Nizo Professional) and the 16mm format (Arri S). I don´t shoot much film anymore since it's too expensive and the HD cameras are getting better. I love film and wish I could shoot it more though. Elph´s are also really nice.

Who sponsors your movie?
Quiksilver, Omatic Snowboards and Skullcandy.

When is the release of PONY TALE?
We will release "Pony Tale" FREE for download September 2008. Be sure to download it, it will be all over the internet. Some of the sites that will feature it arewww.actionhorsefilms.com,www.quiksilver-europe.com,www.methodmag.com,www.omaticsnowboards.com,www.transition.seand why notwww.snowboard-revolution.com?

What is your favorite country to film? Why?
like to film in the States the most. It is usually easy to find good snow and good weather. And I like that you can almost always find a slushy park somewhere. I also like to film in Japan, Sweden and Bulgaria.

Where do you see the future of snowboard movies going?
I kind of hope for this: That the movie formats will go more to the Team video format like the DC / Forum videos. Kind of like how it is in skateboarding where they only have team vids. I think that this is better for the snowboard companies, their teams and also for the movie makers. I also think that it will be less DVD´s and more downloads. I don't believe in selling snowboard movies on DVD since kids download them illegally anyway. That´s one of the reasons why we are releasing our movie for FREE.

- K-nut

Who pays the bills?
Quiksilver, Omatic and Skullcandy right now hehe.

Do you prefer to live in USA or in Sweden?
I dont know.

What do you think of all girls video company's?
I think it is sick that girls are making their own videos. It´s always fun to see what the girls are up to and I think they rip. I think it´s a little weird though that there is only one company that makes girl snowboard movies. I think there should be at least 2 movies to fit all the girl pros. I actually co-directed/filmed/edited last years Roxy movie "Labor of Love" and I edited all the Misschief videos. It was very cool to see how Misschief created such a big interest for girl movies starting from scratch. It was a very cool thing to be apart of.

Best powder day of your life?
I had 2 in a row in Bachelor this year when we got to take our sleds in the slopes. We were just shuttling people up and down for endless pow runs. I had a really good day last year with Pierre W in Brighton when we didn't bring our backpacks and an awesome day with Vincent Skoglund in Bulgaria. Austria never disappoints on a good snow year though.

Plans for the summer?
I am in Sweden shooting intros and filming some more summer riding now. Then I´m going to SLC to edit the movie for a while. So I will hang there and skate and stuff...

I know you check www.snowrev.com every day? Why?
Hehe, Well. I think it is a super good site for snowboarding and I think it´s great that you post whatever you think is interesting. That makes the site original! The content is pretty different compared to all the other snowboard sites so it´s a very nice change of news. I like the crew blogs, croslands blog and all the stuff at the main page. The photog interviews are also a nice read.

THANK YOU!
