The first ever etnies Goofy vs. Regular event went down in the history books as one of the best and well built contest ever to grace the slopes of Bear Mtn.  Luckily we got a break in the crazy weather for the event with sun for most of the day followed by a little bit of clouds coming in late bringing some snow then turning to rain when the finals ended. Bear mountain killed it as always setting up a really fun course for the two teams on goldrush starting with a triple jump line, kinked rail, staircase ollie straight to the tex down rail right in front of the judges booth.  The bottom scene consisted of a tube gap jam with  the biggest hip socal has ever seen and JP Walkers signature wall ride that was unveiled that day.Heavy hitters showed up for both the regular and goofy squads so everybody knew the level of riding was going be turned up for a chance at a piece of that 50,000 dollar purse and to settle the battle of the stances. Not to mention the starting five on the both sides got a extra grand for just showing up.  Jon Stouffer from Fuel team headed up as team Caption for the Goofy side while TWS editor Kurt Hoy maned things for left foot foward Regular squad.  The day started off bright and early with open qualifiers followed by qualifiers where every rider was pushing it to make into one of the two fifteen person teams for the final battle of GvR.  After those two rounds a coin toss between team captains went down and goofy won deciding to go first while the weather was still ok hope the worst storm would drop right as the regulars went.

As for some of the moves that went down in finals I would have to say that Dave Fortin took the cake for being the most gnarly guy there. He was the only person to send it over the whole entire hip popping of the toes with frontside sevens, nines, and a ten-eighty not exactly stomping but he took it up a level for sure. For the goofy riders some of the people that were impressive as always were Harrison Gordon with solid jumping and sometimes taking a different approach at the hip putting down cripplers with sick stinkbug grabs on the landing of the hip. Louie Vito killing it all day on every jump with sick back seven nosegrabs and tweaking the shit out of his huge airs on the hip. Chris Bradshaw, steezy and always fun to see. Tyler Flannigan threw down all day, falling only once all day. Jonas Michilot and Nick Dirks were seen cruising together all day with both of them shredding really well. Bear team rider Simon Chamberlain pulled out a really sick back lip on the new JP Walker feature with the smooth style he is known for. Then for the regular fellas Austin Smith was consistent all day with really clean back sevens on lock and good tweaks with every grab. Erich Dummer was riding strong all day blastin the hip. Bear local Johnny Miller throwing down backside 9's on the jump then sending backside airs one the hip. Keegan Valaika oozing with style and changing up his runs hitting all the features available. Robbie Walker spinning his way onto the top five. Thirtytwo's Stian Solberg riding well with powerful frontside 7's and 9's on the third jump and some of the biggest and smoothest backside airs on the hip. It was no surprise that Ride's Juuso Laivisto walked away with the MVP for regular footers with some of the cleanest spins on all the jumps and all day helping the Regular claim the top spot!
No better way to end a event but with free beer for everyone involved and Ghostface Killa of Wutang performing under a down pour of rain to a huge crowd of screaming fans.

Overall I think I can speak for everyone that was able to be there that we are all happy to see thirtytwo and etnies take the Goofy vs. Regular event to the snow and hopefully we will see this every year from now on. Big thanks to Brian Cook and everyone from Thirtytwo and Etnies, Fuel TV, Transworld, Lost Energy, Zumiez and most the people and park staff at Bear mountain resort for making such a rad contest.
