Mike Poirot Named Marketing Director For Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation
Katie Brown Assumes New Role of Director of Sales & Online Marketing Services
Steamboat Springs, CO - Mike Poirot, a 14-year marketing professional, has been named to the position of Marketing Director for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. In a related move, Katie Brown will assume the new role of Director of Sales & Online Marketing Services.

Prior to coming to Steamboat, Poirot held numerous marketing management positions including executive director of business development for AOL Web Properties; vice president of marketing for Internet Commerce Systems; director of marketing and consumer research for Ford Motor Company as well as several strategic marketing positions for MCI Communications in Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Denver. Since arriving in Steamboat in 2003, he has been active in many local organizations, including the Main Street organization, a Steamboat Ambassador for a number of years and currently owns and operates Beau Jo’s Mountain Bistro, downtown.
Poirot will report directly to Wirth and be responsible for all aspects of advertising, merchandising, promotions, direct marketing, marketing events, collateral production and all 'media purchasing’ aspects of the web. He will manage strategic partnerships as well as the overall coordination and integration of resort campaigns in the marketplace. Poirot will also oversee the marketing coordinator and advertising/direct marketing manager positions. A former Colorado certified public accountant, Poirot earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting as well as a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Denver. He will begin his new responsibilities at the resort on January 2, 2007.
In a related move within the marketing department, Katie Brown, a 14-year industry expert, will transition into the new role of Director of Sales & Online Marketing Services. In addition to her current tour and leisure sales responsibilities for the resort and AAA Four-Diamond Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel, Brown will now oversee the operational, functional and structural aspects of the resort’s web/online effort.
"Our need to focus additional resources in this broad and rapidly changing environment is as pronounced as ever,” commented Wirth. "I am convinced that applying Katie’s expertise and enthusiasm in this mission-critical space will advance the resort’s lead within the industry. This will also allow us to further the success story associated with our web booking channel, iCORIS, and Steamboat Central Reservations®.”
A graduate of the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and information systems, Brown has been with the resort since 1991 holding the following positions Kids’ Vacation Center Instructor, Kids Adventure Club Counselor, Steamboat Central Reservations’ Sales Agent, Group Sales Manager, International Sales Manager, National Sales Manager before becoming director of sales in 1998. Brown, who is married with two children, serves on various community organizations including the board of directors for the Community Agriculture Alliance and Steamboat Springs Montessori School as well as has completed several extensive leadership programs.
