2007 Boost Mobile SnoSho at Perisher Blue
New South Wales, Australia - Australia’s biggest ever “Game Show” style snowboarding competition is ready to ignite the slopes of Perisher Blue, NSW on Saturday 1st September, 2007.
Featuring four huge tower structures, a scaffold in ramp, concert style lighting, pyrotechnics, concrete topped jam rail ledge, the world’s longest rail and most importantly, the world’s best snowboarders, The Boost Mobile SNOSHO Presented by Samsung will provide a spectacle unlike anything seen in Australian snowboarding history.
Formerly known as the Boost Mobile ‘King of the Rail’, the high-flying event boasts $36,000 in cash and prizes along with a who’s who of world snowboarding.
Boost Mobile’s Event Director, Anthony Torr, said Boost Mobile is committed to providing the premiere snowboarding event of the 2007 season. We are also stoked to have Samsung as our presenting sponsor
for the event.
“The Boost Mobile SNOSHO presented by Samsung will see the best snowboarders from both Australia and the world ripping into what is arguably the best and biggest Australasian snowboarding event in 2007. The infrastructure, the event format and of course the riders will mean that on the evening of September 1st you’ve got to be on Perisher Blue’s Front Valley...It isn’t getting any better than this!”
Jenny Goodridge, Marketing Manager Samsung Mobile said “we are excited to be part of this action packed event”.
Leading the charge in the explosive tournament will be Australia’s hottest snowboarding talents including Boost Mobile team riders Max Cookes, Mitch Allan and Jye Kearney.
The SNOSHO will open with a wildcard qualification round on Friday 31st August. The top three riders from this event will walk away with a spot in Saturday's main event and a shot at the cash and prizes.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s format kicks off with the winner-takes-all Boost Mobile ‘King of the Rail’. This is an official Guinness World Record where riders attempt to slide the farthest down an 80 metre rail. The current record is held by Shay Paxton, who in 2005 set the inaugural record with a 36.63 metre slide.
As well as the title of ‘King of the Rail’ and bragging rights for the year the winner will receive $10,000 large!
The action continues on Saturday with a 30-minute jam session utilising a 27-stair set with two ledges and two handrails, known as the Allphones Jam Rail, and a 60-foot tabletop for the Samsung Big Air. All 25 riders will hit the snow as many times as they can during the session. The top two scores from each rider are combined, with the top six riders progressing through to compete in the Boost Mobile SNOSHO final.
The Boost Mobile SNOSHO final consists of a “Game Show” style format with riders having to perform tricks randomly selected from a game show style wheel. The six qualifying riders face off against each other in a contest where each rider aims to successfully complete five tricks from the wheel. Each successful trick earns a letter, spelling the word B-O-O-S-T across his chest. The first rider to do so wins the event!
Wildcard registration is open to the public from the 1st August, 2007 or register on qualifying day, that’s Friday 31st August at Perisher!
The Boost Mobile SNOSHO Presented by Samsung is proudly supported by Snowboarding Magazine, Sound Surgeon, Burton, Perisher Blue, Allphones and The Hot Hits.
