2008 Billabong Snow Stock
Auckland, NZ - With the Southern Hemisphere winter season in full swing, entries are filling fast in all divisions of the Billabong Snow Stock at Snow Park New Zealand.
Headlining the festival style event on the 14th-15th August will be a TTR 3-Star Rated Big Air competition, which has already attracted some of the biggest names in world snowboarding to the Snow Park arena.
Located between Wanaka and Queenstown on the New Zealand South Island, Snow Park is one of the world’s premier purpose built freestyle terrain parks and has become a haven for professional snowboarding during the Northern Hemisphere Summer. The two day event is a full 80’s themed festival with some of NZ’s best DJ’s scheduled to light up the Snow Park hill.
The Billabong Big Air will be capped at a max of 100 riders in Open Men, Open Women’s, Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s divisions where each competitor will be given three runs with the top score counted.
International riders Antti Autti (FIN), Risto Mattila (FIN), Scotty Lago (USA), Marius Otterstad (NOR) Nick Gregory (AUS), Clint Allan (AUS), Robbie Walker (AUS) will join local riders Louis Purucker, Jacob Koia, Nick Brown, Nick Hyne as favourites in the Big Air competition.
The event has also been entered by defending TTR Women’s World Champion Jamie Anderson along with Erin Tanner (AUS), Michaela Davis-Meehan (AUS) and Callie Conaghan (NZ).
The TTR 3-Star Rated Billabong Big Air will feature $10,000 in prize money.
Along with the Billabong Big Air event, Nixon will be hosting a Quarter-Pipe Throw Down with limited edition Nixon watches up for grabs for the highest air and best trick.
The third event of the two day Snow Stock will be the Panasonic Night Fight rail event held under lights on Thursday 14th August, with big screen televisions and video camera’s awarded to the best performers in a Jam format.
