2008 Spirit Mountain Chevy Revolution Tour: Halfpipe Results

Duluth, Minn - The Chevy Revolution Tour wrapped up a second day of snowboarding competition with Brennen Swanson (Stillwater, MN) and Ellen Feldman (Avon, CO) winning the first of five halfpipe events on the tour.

Feldman's winning run was a straight air, straight air, frontside 540, backside 540, frontside 360, cab 540. Kait Farrington (Bellevue, ID) followed Feldman in second place, and Rose Raevsky (Grand Junction, CO) was third for the women's competition.

"It feels really good. I'm really happy because it's one of my first competitions and one of my teammates made the podium with me, so that was good," Feldman said. "I was pretty surprised because I qualified in the final six and then I came out first so I'm really excited. I didn't know what to expect."

Swanson went with a crippler, backside 9, frontside 7, switch frontside to win. Broc Warring (Edwards, CO) finished behind Swanson and Paul Brichta (Burnsville, MN) was third.

"It feels fantastic. I wanted to win. All my friends, family and everyone were there so I wanted to do my best for them. I went into it with good thoughts in my mind," Swanson said.

"It was a very good halfpipe day. Brennen Swanson is a Minnesota native so it was really cool to have a local kid win. Ellen is a Vail athlete and she's also one of our Project Gold athletes, so she's a really good competitor and someone we're looking to see really advance in the sport," said U.S. Snowboarding Program Manager Abbi Nyberg.

The event also featured a juniors halfpipe competition full of local kids looking to advance in the sport.

"It's mostly kids from the area and it's really cool to watch. They're really good juniors in Minnesota. It's a huge pool of talent here and it's really great to watch them and think about the future of the sport," Nyberg said.

The Chevy Revolution Tour continues Sunday at Spirit Mountain with a slopestyle competition before heading to Copper Mountain, CO, Jan. 20-22.

"Tomorrow should be a very good day. We're looking forward to watching competition and some really great athletes in competition," Nyberg said.
