2008 Spirit Mountain Chevy Revolution Tour: Snowboardcross Results
Spirit Mountain, Minn. - Kicking off its fourth season, the Chevy Revolution Tour opened Friday with roommates Kim Krahulec (Silverthorne, CO) and Roger Carver (Placerville, CA) winning snowboardcross races in the first of five stops on the tour.
"It feels absolutely wonderful to win. I traveled quite a ways to perform well and that's what I did," Carver said. "The competition was stacked. The whole PacSun snowboarding team made it to the finals so it was a good competition out there with the best of the best."
Carver finished first in the qualifying round of the competition and carried that spot to a victory in the end. Chris Mahaney (Greenwich, CT) moved up from seventh in the qualifying round to finish second overall, followed by Mick Dierdorff (Steamboat Springs, CO) in third.
In the women's qualifying round, Krahulec also finished first, and went on to win overall. Emma Pullin of Australia followed in second with Heather Doolittle (Belgrade, ME) in third.
With outstanding results for Krahulec and Carver, it was obvious to some that their status as roommates helps them to push through to new competitive levels.
"Roger and Kim train together, they're pushing each other and it obviously works. They're roommates and they're great partners and that shows in their riding," U.S. Snowboarding Program Manager Abbi Nyberg said.
"It helps a lot. I have someone to ride with, train with and travel with and he helps me to be better," Krahulec said.
The Chevy Revolution Tour continues Saturday at Spirit Mountain with a halfpipe competition and concludes on Sunday with slopestyle.
