It was rather strange rolling into Whistler for Grenade Games straight off the road from Alaska. First off being that we missed 4/20 which is the usually proclaimed official day that Grenade Games has gone down since its birth 5 years ago. Secondly that this year the Games were stretched over a six day period during the Telus feastival. We rolled up the 23rd which was the scheduled Superpipe comp which was interesting to say the least. Interesting in the fact that it wasn't your typical Grenade Games Superpipe Jam I had come to love after attending the previous 4 years of the Games. I saw start lists, people in ski boots telling me I can't shoot on the deck, Grenade team riders being kicked out of the pipe for not having helmets, overall media circus and completly different vibe than past years. This same mood and hassles went hand in hand with the next day's slopestyle jam. Now ths is just my perspective on the on hill events based on the pervious years. I had a great time every night in the Village and Grenade did what they do best which is party. I doubt it will happen but I would love to see this annual party roll its wheels back to June mtn and bring back some of that old Grenade Spirit. Take or leave it just my two cents....
