8-10" of Fresh Snow Fell Last Night!
Donner Summit, CA - The storm that blew in Wednesday night to Donner Summit dropped eight to ten inches of fresh snow on the ski trails at Boreal allowing the resort to open to the top of the mountain for weekend skiers and riders. Boreal is expanding its daily operations to two lifts (Castle Peak and Accelerator), two trails and two terrain park lines on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Adult and Teen lift tickets will increase to $39 with the opening of Accelerator.
“Fortunately this storm brought along cold temperatures which is enabling our snowmaking crew to keep the flakes coming round the clock,” said Eric Rosenwald, Snowmaking and Terrain Park Manager. “We’re taking advantage of every opportunity to keep this early season going strong” he added. Boreal continues to be the only resort open in Northern California.
Along with the opening of the Accelerator lift, Boreal will be unveiling the new 1-2-3 Ride Free beginner’s program. “1-2-3 Ride Free is a program designed to take beginners from their first lesson to becoming a life-long skier or rider in one season,” stated Jon Slaughter, Boreal Marketing Director. “Plus, as a bonus, graduates walk away with a Boreal season pass for the rest 2009/2010 ski season.” More information about 1-2-3 Ride Free is available at RideBoreal.com/123.
Boreal will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. thru November 26th. Night operations will begin Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. More lifts and runs will continue to open as snow and weather conditions permit. Resort services include all base facilities including food and beverage, ski/snowboard rentals, lessons and retail.
