Cheer Spreads Through Squaw This Holiday Season

Squaw Valley, USA - Squaw Valley’s annual Festival of Lights, Santa Claus on skis, holiday caroling, live music, and a festive Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade are all part of the yuletide fun for guests visiting Squaw Valley USA. The village is sparkling with a massive holiday tree, festive decorations and shopping, dining and a variety of events and activities add to the top-to-bottom excitement this holiday season.
Holiday caroling and live musical performances take place regularly in the base village throughout the holidays. Starting on December 15 Santa and Christmas Carolers will be visiting the Village every weekend. Listen or join in as these Christmas carolers fill the base village with holiday songs and good cheer. Can’t make it to church? A non-denominational Christmas Eve service takes place at the top of the Links/East Broadway chairlifts on December 23 at 2 pm.
The excitement comes to a crescendo at dusk on Christmas Eve, as guests are treated to a special torchlight parade. A traditional family favorite, the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade* can be seen from anywhere in the Village or Squaw Valley base area. Watch in amazement as Squaw Valley Ski School instructors descend the lower mountain carrying brightly lit torches in a beautiful procession of lights.
Round out the holiday week with a number of New Year’s Eve Celebrations. Ski, snowboard and ice-skate until 9 pm and enjoy dinner at one of Squaw Valley’s many restaurants. Looking for something to do with the family on New Year’s Eve? The Mountaintop New Year’s Eve Dinner Celebration entertains with live music, dancing, ice skating, and sparkling cider and champagne toasts at 9 pm (EST New Year’s).
Starting Friday, December 21, Squaw Valley opens for night skiing and riding every night until 9 pm. Make turns under the lights on Bailey’s Beach, Riviera, and the 3.2 mile Mountain Run. Night skiing is FREE with any half or full day lift ticket.

December 1-31: Festival of Lights - The Village at Squaw and the Squaw Valley Base teem with holiday glee as lights, a 50-foot holiday tree, and holiday decorations make for a winter wonderland and perfect photo opportunities. The Village is sparkling and guests can enjoy shopping, dining and a variety of events and activities.
December 1-24: Toys For Tots Drive - Help celebrate the Holidays by donating a new, unwrapped toy to charity. Drop Boxes are located throughout the base Village.
December 5, 12, 19, 26: Lake Tahoe Adventure Slideshow Series 7 pm (Every Wednesday) - Come to Bar One every Wednesday this season relive the unbelievable adventures of the Lake Tahoe Adventure Series' guest speakers (athletes and world travelers).
December 8-9: Learn to Ski & Ride Weekend - $25 beginner packages include: lift ticket, lesson, equipment rentals!
Squaw Valley joins other North Lake Tahoe resorts for this regional Learn to Ski & Ride weekend. First time skiers and snowboarders are eligible for $25 beginner packages all weekend, space permitting. Details: 530-583-6985.
December 15: 16th Annual Snow Gods Ball - A benefit for the Squaw Valley Avalanche Awareness Education Fund. This year's benefit ball takes place at Bar One and Zenbu in the Olympic House. Doors open at 8 pm, music featuring Aphrodesia at Bar One and DJ Mancub at Zenbu starts at 9 pm. Ages 21 and older only, ID required. TICKETS: $20 at the door/ $15 in advance. December 15-16: Santa Visits the Village (12-4 pm) - Look for Santa near the Giant Christmas Tree for your holiday picture opportunity.
December 15-16: North Tahoe High School Choral Ensemble at the Holiday Tree (3-5 pm) - Traditional Christmas Caroling in the Village. Everyone is welcome to join in the holiday singing.
December 16: Community Benefit Day - Purchase $35 lift tickets online - 100% sale of online tickets benefits the Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundation and Excellence in Education. A local fundraiser for the Excellence in Education Foundation and the Tahoe Forest Hospital: Pre-purchase donation vouchers online at squawshop.com and redeem them at Squaw Valley (on Dec 16 only) for an adult all day lift ticket & skate session. December 21-25: Santa and His Elf Hit the Slopes at Squaw - Santa and his elf tour Squaw Valley USA spreading holiday cheer. Catch jolly old St. Nick skiing and snowboarding around the mountain, sliding rails in the Belmont Terrain Park, skating at the Olympic Ice Pavilion, assisting with lessons, and entertaining children at the Squaw Kids Ski School.
December 21-24: Christmas Carolers in the Village (5-7 pm) - Everyone is welcome to join in the holiday singing.
December 22: Winter Solstice Candle Light Celebration at The Rainbow Bridge
December 22-24: Santa Visits the Village - Look for Santa near the Giant Christmas Tree for your holiday picture opportunity. Santa will be in the Village from 12-4 pm on Saturday & Sunday and from 3-7 pm on Monday the 24th.
December 22- January 6: Squaw Sessions Teen Ski & Snowboard Camp - Specifically designed for ski and snowboard crazed 13 to 18 year-olds, Squaw Sessions provides the new school breed with the opportunity to experience Squaw Valley’s rich freeride culture firsthand.
December 23: Reno Exchange Jazz Vocal Ensemble in the Village (3-5 pm) - Traditional Christmas Caroling performed in a-cappella style.
December 23: Sierra Nevada Ensemble (3-5 pm) - Enjoy the holiday sounds of this six-member a-cappella group as they sing throughout the base area.
December 24: Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade

December 31: Mountaintop Family New Year’s Eve Celebration @ High Camp - An ideal New Year’s Eve alternative for early birds and families is the Mountaintop New Year’s Eve Dinner Celebration at High Camp, 8200’. The all-ages soiree includes a starry-night Cable Car ride, ice skating, a delicious prime rib buffet in the elegantly decorated Terrace Room, piano entertainment, and a 9 pm PST (East Coast New Year’s) champagne toast. December 31: Fresh Tracks New Year’s Eve Extravaganza - Squaw Valley’s “mature” guests can choose from a myriad of New Year’s Eve celebrations including the biggest party on the North Shore in the Olympic House. The Fresh Tracks New Year’s Eve Party hosts three parties in one, with live music and house DJ beats in all three Olympic House bars. Tickets are $15 and guests must be 21 & older with a valid ID.
December 31: Le Chamois/Loft Bar New Year’s Eve Party - Squaw Valley’s Le Chamois/Loft Bar, downstairs transforms into a dance club with DJs spinning disco & funk all night long. Upstairs the disco ball will be spinning as well, and Stick & Juli will be serving drinks in the Loft 'til 1:30 am-ish. After 8 pm guests 21 & older only can attend.
