Final Parklife Youth Mini Shred at The Remarkables

Queenstown, New Zealand - Young skiers and riders are gearing up to rock The Remarkables this Sunday (28 September) for the last round of the Parklife Youth Mini Shred. The third and final competition of the series this season is to be held in the Fruju Beginner Park.

Josh Clark, Youth Action Sports Co-ordinator at The Remarkables says spectators can look forward to some inspiring shredding action from some of the country’s best young freestylers.

“We’ve seen some wicked performances this year. As always, there’ll be lots of prizes on offer. We’re really looking forward to rewarding our most improved freestyle skier with a pair of K2 skis. That’s what it’s all about - getting out there with your friends, pushing your limits, improving your performances and having a whole heap of fun while you’re at it.”

Mr Clark said the Parklife Youth Mini Shred had grown over the years to be one of the most popular events on the freestyling calendar.

“It’s great because it gives kids the chance to show their stuff in a mellow competition designed just for them.”

The Remarkables Manager Ross Lawrence says the mountain will be buzzing on Sunday as it’s also the date of the annual Spring Fling at The Remarkables.

“It’s going to be a Super Sunday for The Remarkables and we’re excited about all the activities lined up during the day – there’s something on offer for everyone,” he said. “This is an awesome way to celebrate spring and what’s been a great season so far.”

For those entering Sunday’s competition, plenty of spot prizes are up for grabs from K2, Alta Snowboard Shop and Parklife. The divisions are: 16 and under, 14 and under, 12 and under, ski and board, male and female.

Registration is free and there is a $20 refundable bib deposit. Competitors only need to turn up on the day and register at Guest Services in the base building between 9:00am and10:00am to secure their slot in the competition. Helmets are compulsory.
