Big Bear Lake, Calif.– Southern California’s most exciting summer snowboard contest, Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails (HD&HR), is returning to Bear Mountain on Saturday, September 16, 2006, which is less than five weeks away!
“Everyone planning to attend this year’s HD&HR event can look forward to a fun-filled day that will include a contest full of top pros competing for $12,000, three movie premieres, pro autograph signings, a preview of several companies’ ‘07 product at Winter Session, an after-party for the 21-and-over crowd, DJs spinning on the deck, product giveaways and more!” explained Kim Hermon, Asst. Director of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts.
HD&HR is free and open to the public; however, the snowboarding contest is for invited pros only. The event will feature a unique setup that will test the skills of some of the best jibbers in the world. Also, the venue’s layout will be entirely different this year, as it will be more rider and spectator friendly. HD&HR will be MC’d by Sal Masekela, commentator for ESPN as well as numerous high-caliber sporting events including the X Games, MTV’s Sport and Music Festival and the US Open of Surfing.
Another reason to attend this year’s HD&HR is to check out the highly successful Winter Session event, presented by Bromuda Triangle. In its third year, “Winter Session offers snowboarders a first look at the upcoming season’s product in a friendly, social, sale person-free environment,” explained Nam Tran, event coordinator for Winter Session.
In addition to Winter Session, HD&HR will feature the premiere of Mack Dawg Productions’ new films “Follow Me Around” and “People,” as well as Bear Mountain’s new movie “Join Us.” HD&HR will also include a sponsor booth city, special event-only season pass rollback prices, professional rider autograph sessions, product giveaways, live DJ’s, BBQ’s, the Beach Bar, tons of snow and some of the top-ranked snowboarders in the world battling it out for $12,000 in cash prizes. Furthermore, HD&HR will host a benefit for Boarding for Breast Cancer.
HD&HR will be covered by several media outlets, and numerous Southern California radio stations including Powder 106 will be involved in the promotion of the event.
