Mountain Dew Night Sessions #4 Results
Lake Wanaka, New Zealand - The last round of the Mountain Dew Night Sessions was under lights at Snow Park NZ on Friday coinciding with public nightriding on the box run. In the last event to go before the invitiational finale riders last night were stepping it up to get the points required to be in for the final prize pool of NZ$9000!
Registrations came in throughout the day with the field dominated by riders who already have point standings in the series. Charlotte Trundle and Christy Prior were part of an impressive female competitor group and the male field included previous MDNS #3 winner Wes Walsh.
After the practice session the competitors went into a 60 minute jam session where they went all out to impress the panel of judges. MC Zinny was entertaining as always with support from local DJ Concrete Mixer pumping out the punk tunes. Competitors were judged on style and technicality of tricks, all vying for a $500 cash prize pool and $500 of Quest Snowboard store vouchers.
Final results saw Wes Walsh take out the first male prize for the second session in a row taking home $300 cash and 9 points towards his final standing in the series. Dylan Sutton (19) took out second place gaining 6 points and a $200 Quest voucher and third place went again to American Dillon James receiving $100 Quest voucher and 3 points.
In the female division, Christy Prior placed first again receiving $200 cash and 9 points, followed by American rider Dariah ($150 Quest voucher – 6 points) and Charlotte Trundle (17) placing third ($50 Quest Voucher – 3 points).
Fifty dollar Snow Park NZ vouchers also went out to Dariah and Wes Walsh for best tricks of the night.
The next event is the Invitational final set for this Friday, September 5th.
Snow Park NZ marketing manager Claire Jackson said “the last night sessions before the final was an all out battle to score points to get on the invite list for Friday’s upcoming final, the $9000 cash prize pool has really motivated local and international riders alike”.
Following a short and sweet prize giving the beers started flowing in the Woolshed Bar. A good time was had by all. Mountain Dew Night Sessions is proudly sponsored by Mountain Dew, Quest and Jameson Whisky.
