Mt. Guchlynn Artshow With Bryan Iguchi And Jamie Lynn
by Ben Brough

The following took place on Japan's north island of Hokkaido in the city of Sapporo, on Saturday, March 3rd 2007. Volcom invaded the small café/antique storefront “FaBulous” one drizzly cold night to show the artistic talents of two warm-hearted individuals, Jamie Lynn and Bryan Iguchi for the Mt. Guchlynn art show.
We were not allowed to nail anything into the walls of the cafe and there was no track system to hang the paintings from above. Our solution was to get easels and drape cloth over them to resemble mountains, which these two are so famous for slashing up.

The day of the show everyone lent a hand constructing the mountains, putting up the art, getting supplies, cleaning up and transforming the room into a warm colorful environment in contrast to the dull, grey, cold outside. We even managed to find a couple of existing hooks high above the biggest wall in the room to hang four pieces, two of Bryans and two of Jamie's which worked out well.

About 500 people came and went throughout the night consuming Japanese beer, buying art and getting limited edition posters and tee shirts signed by the artists. Bryan and Jamie were their humble and appreciative selves taking time to talk and smile with everyone even beyond the language barrier that made every star struck eye in the house glow with happiness. With the snow falling outside, the girls and guys were lining up just to say hi take a picture or even gaze in amazement at Bryan and Jamie. I even heard some made the trek from Tokyo to Sapporo (2 hourr plane ride then hour and a half bus ride) just to be there. I even noticed some traveling Australians that were there who happened to have an old Jamie snowboard, which they scored a classic Jamie cat original drawing on the top of the board.
