Queenstown, New Zealand - Following the very successful programme in 2005, Coronet Peak & The Remarkables snowsports schools are now taking applications for winter 2006, so if snowsports is your passion and you want to channel this into a career, then now is a great time to consider the Queenstown Snowsports 2006 Instructor Training Programme.
The programme offers participants the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised qualification under the tuition of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables highly experienced instructors and examiners.
During training, you will be taught the ‘in’s and out’s’ on how to become an instructor, what to teach and when to teach certain skills, as well as being given guidance on demonstrating the required standard, approach and work ethic appropriate for further training and employment in the snowsports industry.
Throughout the six week programme you will work towards the NZSIA Certificate in Snowsports (CSI) Instruction Training Level and the NZSIA Stage One Training Level.
Tuition comprises five to six hours of tuition per day, for three days each week, followed by the NZSIA CSI course and, after gaining CSI certification, the NZSIA Stage One course and examination.
The NZSIA courses will revise all the learning of the previous weeks and will examine your skiing / riding skills, teaching skills and knowledge. You will also have the chance to shadow live classes taught by Coronet Peak/The Remarkables instructors throughout your tuition.
A minimum course entry requirement is that applicants have reached level 5-6; upper intermediate to advanced, and are over 17 years old on 1 August 2006.
Commencing on Monday 17 July 2006 with a welcome night, tuition will take place at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables Ski Areas in Queenstown, New Zealand. As part of the course package pre-arranged, centrally located accommodation is available.
Michel Marchand, Snowsports School Director, says he has carefully developed the programme to feature workshops, lesson shadowing, self-improvement practice time, regular video analysis and one night session per week.
“Our continued success is built on the many years of experience and continued development of our qualified, professional staff. Their knowledge and expertise is now available to you through this programme.
“We believe that this programme is the best opportunity for students who are intending to become ski or snowboard instructors to gain the skills and attitude required to excel in the snowsports industry,” said Michel.
Applications will be accepted from now until 15 May 2006, or until places are filled. To preserve the optimal student to tutor ratio limited positions are available, so it’s advisable to secure a place by applying early. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis as applications are received; either face to face or by phone.
