New Snow Improves Conditions At Mammoth
The Super Duper Pipe opened yesterday
Mammoth Mountain, Ca - It was the perfect holiday weekend at Mammoth Mountain, with a sunny day, a stormy day and fresh powder day. Saturday, skiers and snowboarders enjoyed warmer temperatures and sunshine, while Sunday was stormy. The storm departed Monday morning, leaving behind six inches of fresh powder at Main Lodge and nearly a foot at the top of the mountain.
Plenty of new snow has fallen in February, vastly improving Mammoth's snow conditions. One recent storm dropped three feet of snow at Main Lodge and over five feet of snow at the top of the mountain. More snow is on the way - forecasters are predicting that Mammoth could receive between two-to-four feet of snow from a storm that is expected to begin on Thursday.
Mammoth is 100% open with 29 lifts providing access to 3,500 acres of skiable terrain. Mammoth currently has a four-to-six foot base of powder, packed powder and machine groomed snow.
The recent snowfall also helped the Mammoth Unbound Terrain Park crew debut the Super Duper Pipe. The Super Duper Pipe opened Monday morning and is 650 feet long with 22-foot walls and 22 feet of transition. Mammoth is one of three resorts in North America to have a halfpipe of this size. This season the Unbound Crew is using a new machine - the Zaugg Pipe Monster to cut the Super Duper Pipe's 22 foot walls. Mammoth is the only place in the world where riders can find all three halfpipe sizes: Super, Super-Duper, and Mini. All three are cut every single night.
Rooms are still available in Mammoth for the coming week. The Lift and Lodging package is the ultimate convenience package - stay three or more nights and get a multi-day lift ticket for the corresponding days. Call 800.MAMMOTH to book.
