MT. HOOD, Ore.- While most mountains have shut down for the season, U.S. Snowboarding continues to ride as the 2006 Project Gold freestyle camp launches June 13-22 at Windells on Oregon's legendary Mt. Hood.
In its third year of hosting the freestyle camp, Windells will host up to 34 of the best up and coming riders who received personal invites from U.S. Snowboarding for solid results at last seasons Chevrolet Revolution Tour and U.S Snowboarding Grand Prix stops. The crew will ride each day with U.S. Snowboarding national team coaches Mike Jankowski and Rick Bower before trying out their new skills in the seasons first competition as the Revolution Tour rolls into Windells June 20-21st with halfpipe and slopestyle competitions.
Windells will also host a snowboardcross camp June 18-21 and a parallel giant slalom camp July 16-22.
"Windells is a great host and venue for our Project Gold camp and the Revolution Tour as they have been a longtime supporter of young riders and leaders in providing elite training facilities for snowboarders," said U.S. Snowboarding Program Manager Becky Woolley.
With around 70 men, 25 women and 20 juniors, including Project Gold campers expected to compete, the field will be stacked with the nations top young talent, but there is still room on the start list.
Winners of each Revolution Tour stop gain an automatic starting spot for the 2006-07 Chevrolet U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix, the nations premier snowboarding tour with prizes that total more than $340,000.
