Review of the Spring Fling and Mini Shred at The Remarkables

Queenstown, New Zealand - Fresh snow and sunshine made for a stunning day at The Remarkables Spring Fling on Sunday (28 September). A crowd of around 2000 people enjoyed a series of wacky activities, competitive events and entertainment which added to the great skiing and riding conditions being experienced by all.

”It was a complete success,” said The Remarkables Manager Ross Lawrence.  “It’s all about fun and families and we had a great festival atmosphere around activities including snow building competitions, lollie scrambles, tubing races and a Splash for Cash competition.”

And the spectators loved it.

“If they weren’t watching the participants in the events they were chilling on the deck and listening to pop-rock band Simple Day, who were in awe of the crowd atmosphere and big mountain scenery which marked the end of their south island tour.”

It was also the final round of the Parklife Youth Mini Shred competition held in the Fruju Beginner Park. Josh Clark, Youth Action Sports Co-ordinator, said there were several promising young shredders pulling off some amazing tricks.

”More than 30 young freestyle skiers and riders took part in the event. It was a great turnout for the grommies. I was very impressed with their riding steez and array of tricks. There were some local kids shining through and claiming victory.”

The Parklife Youth Mini Shred was sponsored by K2, Alta Snowboard Shop and Parklife. ”Thanks to our sponsors, every competitor walked away with a prize.” said Josh.

Up for grabs were a pair of K2 skis which were won by the smallest and youngest competitor of the day, Noah Regan-Roach.
