SIA Tradeshow 2009 _ Day Two

SIA Tradeshow 2009 _ Day Two

Event info from John Centi 2/2/2009

I don't really know why, but some some reason I left riding amazing pow in Mammoth to jump in the car once again and head to the SIA tradeshow for the last gnarly bender I will probably ever have in Vegas. As you may or not already know, this was the last year the tradeshow will be in Las Vegas before it moves to Denver for next season. With that on everybody's mind I think that it's safe to say people were getting their party boots on a little more than other five years I've been there. To give you an idea I think I rallied up eight motorboats before the show even ended. Yeah, we were partying.

Usually when I get to a tradeshow I go strait to the Volcom booth to get some stiff drinks, but by the time I got there security decided to shut their bar down at their hillbilly themed booth. Another booth that was killing it, as always was Rome. They had a Fear And Loathing theme that also had a solid bar that security also tried put a stop to. Too bad there is was a back room there were everyone kept it going, suckers. Then there was the Sessions booth. That was a huge highlight for me because of the amazing Metallica cover band that played nothing but the good stuff each night. None of that new crap they made after the band cut their hair. Ashbury's Mike and Lance Hakker along with the rest of the crew were seen cruising around the show wearing some very stylish new eyewear. If you get a chance to see Andrew Hardingham's new movie, Throw Your Panties, you might want to glue your eyes to the TV and prepare to shit your pants at some ridiculous stuff from that guy. As for the rest of the show there are way too many companies with some awesome new gear for next season.

As night time rolled around it was time for the tenth annual Transworld Riders Poll Awards held at The Hard Rock. It was no surprise that Travis Rice swept everything for the men with four new trophy's to add to his collection. They included Rider Of The Year, Video Part Of The Year, Reader's Choice Award, and Standout Rider. Mt. Baker's Lucas Debari grabbed the Rookie Of The Year honors after sending huge last year. If you haven't seen his part in These Days you might want to get that head out of your ass. Jamie Anderson took Rider Of The Year for the women. DC's Raewyn Reid snatched up Rookie Of The Year for the girls after having a solid year and ending up on a bunch of podiums. Then Marie France Roy who is no stranger to being on stage at the Riders Poll Awards won the Women's Video Part, and The Readers Choice Award. All followed up by Jamie Lynn's band Kandy Coded and Tweakbird rocking out some tunes on the stage. Too bad I didn't get to see any of this because the bartender cut me off after not leaving the open bar and even more heat outside being held by security. There was talk of Jail but lucky I was able to worm myself out of that one.
