Benefiting the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club
Steamboat Springs, CO -The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation kicks off the 2006/2007 season Wednesday, November 22, 2006, with Scholarship Day, offering specially priced $15 lift tickets. Scholarship Day is the traditional opening day benefit for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club’s (SSWSC) Scholarship Fund. Since the 1991, Scholarship Day has raised nearly $480,000 for children participating in SSWSC programs.
"The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club has played an integral role in the development of young athletes by providing the support they need in order to achieve their Olympic dreams,” said Chris Diamond, president of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. "With over five feet of snow falling since October 10th, we’re well on our way to another great season at Steamboat and I encourage everyone to come out make a few turns on Scholarship Day.”
The resort is currently reporting a 33-inch base at the summit and has received 27 inches of snow in the past week at the summit.
"Resort mountain crews have done a tremendous job working nearly around the clock to take advantage of the great weather conditions this past week,” said Doug Allen, Vice President of Mountain Operations. "Early next week we will have a better idea of what terrain and lifts will be open on Scholarship Day.”
For the past 94 years, the SSWSC has been providing opportunities for young athletes to become successful competitors and to achieve their personal goals through participation in winter sports. The Club’s success is one reason Steamboat enjoys the moniker Ski Town, U.S.A.® The SSWSC is one of the oldest and most recognized ski clubs in the United States and was named the 2000 United States Ski & Snowboard Association’s Club of the Year.
Specially priced $15 lift tickets will be offered ONLY on Wednesday, November 22, 2006. Scholarship Day tickets may be purchased at the Main Ticket Office, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 21, and open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on November 22.
