Steamboat Springs, Co -The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation announced the appointment of Doug Beall to the position of Vice President-Development.
“Doug is a proven industry veteran with a track record of understanding development and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that covers every aspect of real estate development,” said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “I am extremely pleased to add an executive of Doug’s caliber to the leadership team at the resort.”
In his new position, Beall will be responsible for all aspects of real estate development for the resort including overseeing Steamboat Ski & Resort Realty; acting as a liaison with Intrawest Placemaking, the real estate development arm of Intrawest, as well as playing a vital role in identifying, developing and communicating the company’s future development vision and strategy over the coming years.
“Although the resort currently has no real estate projects in the construction phrase, we are working with a variety of developers on an array of projects that impact the base area and Doug will be a key element of that process going forward,” continued Diamond. “In addition, it is the company’s goal to review its master plan in the near future with the U.S. Forest Service to ensure that current development around the base area and community matches the necessary resources required on the mountain.”
An architect by training, Beall, a 35-year industry veteran, most recently held the position of director of development for Intrawest Placemaking, where he was responsible for four condominium/hotel development projects at the Snowmass Base Village. Prior to joining Intrawest in January 2006, he served throughout Colorado in a variety of positions including director of design and construction for Ultimate Electronics/SoundTrack; director of architecture for RMA Architects/Alley Construction; senior project architect for Design Partnership, Inc.; project manager with both Gensler & Associates and Edward Jereb as well as project superintendent with Wilson Brothers Construction, Inc.
A member of the U.S. Green Building Council, American Institute of Architects and Retail Advisory Council for the National Association of Store Fixture Manufactures (NASFM), Beall has been recognized for his work by the NASFM Retail Design Awards in the category for Outstanding Merit in Fixture Design and Grand Prize in Retail Stores over 25,000 Square Feet as well as an AIA Colorado Design Conference Award in 1993. In addition, he holds a design patent from the U.S. Patent Office.
