Utah Resorts Still Open
As the 2007-08 ski and snowboard season winds down in Utah, there are still turns to be had at a pair of resorts.
Snowbasin will continue winter operations daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, April 27th, and has hinted at the possibility of extending skiing beyond that date. The resort was originally scheduled to close at the conclusion of the ski day on April 20.
Lifts operating until closing will be Little Cat and the Needles Express Gondola only. Lift ticket rates effective now through closing are $39 for adults and $23 for children. Earl's Lodge will be open for dining and Needles Lodge will be open with a limited menu, however Needles at Night fine dining will continue through closing. Retail, rentals and the snowsports school will also be open.
Live music will play on the plaza of Earl's Lodge from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The ski resort's tubing Hill is now closed.
Snowbird is reporting a base of 142 inches at mid-mountain and 542 inches season-to-date for the resort that averages 500 inches a year. In the first 11 days of April, Snowbird received 40 inches of snow at the base and significantly higher accumulations at mid-mountain.
Snowbird is offering a $279 Spring Season Pass, valid now through Snowbird's closing date. Snowbird plans to operate daily through May 11 and then weekends (Friday-Sunday) through May 26, conditions permitting, "or maybe longer," according to Marketing Director Dave Fields. Live music provided by local bands will entertain skiers and riders on the Snowbird Center Plaza Deck weekends from noon-5:30 p.m. through Sunday, May 4.
