Windell’s Session 1 Kicks off the Summer
Welches, Oregon – June 6th marked the beginning of Windell’s snowboard camp at Mt. Hood in Oregon. 82 campers arrived to find staff dressed to impress with tuxedo shirts, ready to shred and party it up for the next 8 days.
For the first session 16-17 year olds were the first to check into the newly re-designed Rome Roadhouse, aka the Rad Boy Club. Counselors Joe McGinley and Kenny “K-Mart” Martinez held things down and acted as ring leaders to the circus. The house is definitely decked out with tons of toys, foose ball, big screen for shred vids, Playstation 2 and even a pool table to impress the co-ed campers with their lack of skills (Jack Borland). The new Rome Shred or Die sunglasses were definitely a favorite in attire, worn pretty much all day, cloudy or not, Corey Hart style.
Saturday was the first Rome night held this season over at BOB, Windell’s giant indoor skate park. The foam pit was the arena for the “Joust of Die”, an American Gladiator style event where campers age 10- adult threw on some old school lacrosse helmets, grabbed a pummeling stick and got ready for battle.
New Rome Camp T’s, shades and different Rome schwag was placed in the center of a six inch wide plank spanning the foam pit. One camper on each side with jousting stick went at each other, and whoever was left standing collected the prize. In the final round Ivan Stewart won the sudden death match against one of Rome’s own Sam Driver.
Thanks to all the coaches, counselors and campers for making the first session such a good time. Keep an eye out for more re-caps on sessions over at Windell’s.
