Laax, SUI – Poland’s Paulina Ligocka (25 years old) and Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen (21 years old) won the 11th Burton European Open halfpipe event today. Each will take home US$ 15.000 in prize-money and also important points towards the BGOS and TTR rankings. Ursina Haller (SUI) and Ilkka-Eemeli Laari (FIN) earned second place and Akiko Miwa (JPN) and Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) took third place.

Laax, SUI – Finnish riders Peetu Piiroinen (21 years old) and Enni Rukajärvi (19 years old) were the big winners of an exciting slopestyle finals up on Crap Sogn Gion today. Peetu claimed his 3rd BEO title today; while Enni secured her first win at the BEO. Both earned US$ 15.000 prize-money, 8.000 BGOS points as well as 1.000 TTR points. Mikkel Bang (NOR) and local rider Sina Candrian (SUI) took second and Gjermund Braaten (NOR) and Sarka Pancochova (CZE) rounded out the podium.

Laax, SUI – The men’s halfpipe qualifications and semi-finals were happening today up on Crap Sogn Gion at the 11th Burton European Open. After yesterday’s cloudy skies, bluebird welcomed the riders this morning as well as a perfectly prepared superpipe. The young guns were the surprise of the week so far, and 20-years-old Finnish rider Ilkka-Eemeli Laari was the one to take top spot in the men’s halfpipe semi-finals today. He was the only one who threw down a double-cork in his run, the must-have trick of this season.

Laax, SUI – The Burton European continued today with the Men’s Slopestyle semi-finals. It was the first day top seeded riders like Peetu Piiroinen or Iouri Podladtchikov were in action to meet the 18 men who made it through pre-qualifications and qualifications earlier this week. 16 riders advance to the Slopestyle finals on Friday, Jan. 15th. Finland represented strong today with 6 riders moving into the finals. 20-year-old Janne Lipsanen finished in 1st today with a score of 81.33.

Laax, SUI – Sunshine and blue skies welcomed the riders today on the fourth day of the 2010 Burton European Open. 40 men who came through from the Pre-Qualifications and 50 women had two runs to prove their skills. The top 18 men and the top 13 ladies advance into the semi-finals where they will meet invited top-riders like last year’s BEO slopestyle winner Lisa Wiik and Swatch TTR World Champion 08/09 Peetu Piiroinen.

Laax, SUI – Today, Monday, the Burton European Open continued with the halfpipe pre-qualifications for the men. The superpipe on Crap Sogn Gion was in great shape and the weather was ideal for riding today. It was up to the 100 men to determine which 40 riders will advance to the halfpipe qualifiers, which will go down on Thursday. Finnish rider Ilkka-Eemeli Laari impressed judges most and received today’s top score of 96.33.

Laax, SUI – Yesterday the juniors wrapped up their competitions with the halfpipe finals up on Crap Sogn Gion. Bluebird skies greeted the groms (up to 14 years old) and the well known superpipe in LAAX was in perfect condition for the youngest competitors of the BEO. The US riders dominated with 9-year-old Chloe Kim and 12-year-old Seamus O’Connor taking home the halfpipe junior titles.

Laax, Switzerland – The 11th Burton European Open Snowboarding Championships started it’s week-long “Circus” show yesterday with the junior slopestyle competition here in LAAX, Switzerland. 54 little rippers up to 14 years old from fourteen nations were competing yesterday up on Crap Sogn Gion. 13-year-old Swiss rider David Hablützel won the boys’s slopestyle competition and 12-year-old Ty Walker from the US stood on top of the girls slopestyle podium.

The Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour is gaining momentum with the second 6Star event right around the corner. The O’Neill Evolution, taking place in Davos, Switzerland, will feature a 6Star halfpipe competition, a 5Star slopestyle competition with a prize purse worth $100,000 USD.

Innsbruck, AUT – Some early snow has arrived in Europe and the global snowboard circus is getting ready for the 11th Burton European Open (BEO) in Laax, Switzerland, from Jan. 9 – 16, 2010. The BEO is the second stop of the Burton Global Open Series 09/10 and a Swatch TTR 6Star event. It offers riders the chance to earn their share of the US$ 125.000 prize-money and to gain valuable points towards the Burton Global Open Series title as well as the Swatch Ticket to Ride World Tour title.
